Dreamweaver to Joomla Site

Three months ago I was reading and trying to learn everything about Dreamweaver for my first website. Ebooks, video tutorial and books, almost all media for learning. I am a fast learner ahem! after a month I got my first website up and running with some items subject to revisions. Content and layout updates were almost a breeze for me as I was having 4 pages site that time.

Here I am right now. I currently have 10 more pages.

So how would I update it? Now I feel the pain of sitting in-front of my computer just to have my site update and create new posts. This is the time I started looking for CMS. Then I found Joomla! Below are my requirements.

Last week I had an online demonstration to one of our prospected client.
Since they are just prospect I decided to do the product demonstration online to save travel, hotel and personnel resources. JoomlaTag SlideShare made it happened.

So I needed to make an online demonstration to two remote sites. Of course they must see my demonstration in real time and hear my voice too while I am doing demonstrations and instructions. I have my JoomlaTag SlideShare for my slides presentation and skype for voice communication, isn't simple?

WebSite LOGO Design

Through it all I thought that ONLY the content is the hardest part in website building.
LOGO is also hard.

After my content now its the logo. I did not focus on this little details because I was thinking of building the whole website first before creating my logo hoping that the whole website content will give me a good logo design. I was very wrong.

At the middle of my content creation I already started asking for a logo design, after two weeks I still don't have it. Not that easy huh!

Now for me this is one of the hardest part. My content is in good hand with my Joomla components that it helped me handle all my content and even my layout.

Anyone wants to help me with my LOGO?!

Content is KING - NOT easy to make One

I must accept it, Content is the hardest part on website building.

I've been struggling with my first website on its content. Probably only 30% of the whole website content I've created and still struggling on 70%.

I sometimes thinking of why not make a website about Joomlatag and its JTAG Ticketing & Helpdesk System For Joomla as I am pretty familiar with. I cannot wait to use this system on my own website.

Webpage Layout then Content

After my first website layout now its the content I am working.
I agree that content is king for websites. This is what our website is all about.

Actually up to this time I'm still struggling with my web page layout. Lots of ideas are now coming in, its because that I am now working on its content. That I should have this part for pictures and this part for the paragraph and other things.

On my site following are contents that I am now considering:
1. Featured Project << Best for the quarter
2. Current Project << on development
3. Blog << for my personal touch
4. Gallery << here I will showcase all my projects.

In any way I still focusing on my original design. It is simple yet informative layout.

I consider myself as beginner and for beginner perfection is not a good option.

Website - My First

Curiosity & Amazement, that two reasons inspired me to make my first website.

After then I started reading forums, blogs, articles and almost anything that will help me start creating my website. following are the topics:

1. Website standards and protocols - HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript are the most common and basic standards and programming I am trying to learn.

2. Website design an design tool - Dreamweaver & Frontpage are my top consideration, after serveral testing I then decided to concentrate using Dreamweaver. For me DW is an "easy to learn" WYSIWUG (WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet) tool.

3. Content Management System - Here I consider Joomla, I guess I don't need to tell more about it. Its the best. Joomla components and joomla add-ons are superb if you know where to get it. Then I came across this very nice website http://www.joomlatag.com/. Their idea is "point and click - Easy InstallerEasy Installer your joomla components. I must say that they've done a great job on this.

4. Web hosting and its different packages - Finally, who is hosting my website. My eyes is limited to godaddy and hostgator.

With my dreamweaver the project is now 80% complete within 1 month. I guess this is fair enough for a beginner like me that I have to stop and read for all "tags", "div"," buttons" to be included in my site.
